Experience Summaries:
Thomas H. Conway
President
Mr. Conway is the founder of CVFG and General Partner of its investing partnerships. He
participates in all facets of the investing process and has been involved in numerous
mergers and acquisitions, corporate partnerships, and the operations of public companies.
Before entering the risk equity business, Mr. Conway specialized in providing corporate
turnaround services to over 70 clients including boards of directors, investment
syndicates and lending institutions. Prior to his corporate turnaround activities, Mr.
Conway held a number of senior managerial positions including Executive Vice President and
Chief Financial Officer of Instrumentation Laboratories, and Chief Executive Officer of
Nixdorf Computer's U.S. operations.
Mr. Conway received his MBA from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School and holds
a degree in Economics from Harvard University.
William J. Booth
Vice President
Since joining CVFG in 1991, Mr. Booth has been involved in all aspects of negotiating,
structuring and financing of CVFG's investments. Mr. Booth provides assistance to the
portfolio companies in the hiring of key management, development of growth strategies, and
the search for acquisitions and merger partners. Additionally, he has been active in
providing management advisory services to retailing and food service clients.
Before joining CVFG, Mr. Booth had fifteen years experience in the various facets of
retail management, and strategic planning. He has held executive positions in the UK and
Europe in large public companies including The Burton Group, PLC., and Marks and Spencer,
PLC.
Mr. Booth is a graduate of St. Edward's School, Oxford, England.
Richard G. Phipps
Vice President
Since its inception, Mr. Phipps has been involved with CVFG's investments, including the
implementation of new management information systems, administering banking relationships,
conducting cost analyses and the development of sophisticated financial models.
Mr. Phipps' previous experience includes twelve years in corporate turnarounds and
restructuring. Prior to his involvement in turnarounds and restructuring, Mr. Phipps had
over eighteen years of management experience with firms such as Tabor Corp., BASF,
Instrumentation Laboratories and Marcam Data Systems.
Mr. Phipps holds a Bachelors Degree in Accounting Bentley College.
Nick Demirali
Associate
Since joining CVFG in 1997, Mr. Demirali has been involved in financial
analysis and planning, cash management, administering lender agreements, banking
relationships, purchasing, distribution, logistics and implementing
process improvement and cost reduction plans.
Prior to joining CVFG, Mr. Demirali had thirteen years experience in corporate financial
planning, information systems, and operations.
Mr. Demirali holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Northeastern
University, and attended Boston College's Carroll School of Management.
